Determine Save Options for Dashboards, Documents, and Reports

By default, when you save changes to an existing dashboard, document, or report in a project, a confirmation message is displayed. You can determine the following:

  • Whether to display the confirmation message each time you save changes to existing dashboards, documents, or reports in the project.
  • For reports and documents, whether to display the Save icon or the Save As icon in the toolbar. You can save changes to a report or document using the Save icon, or save a copy of a report or document using the Save As icon.

You can define these options for a single project while saving changes to a dashboard, document, or report (if the confirmation message is enabled), or for one or more projects, using the user preferences. Separate steps are below to perform each task.

The confirmation message that displays when saving changes to a dashboard, document, or report must be enabled. For steps, see To define save options for one or more projects.

To define save options for a single project

  1. Click the name of a dashboard, document, or report in the project to open it. Make any desired changes.
  2. From the Home menu, select Save.
  3. To return to the dashboard, document, or report without saving changes, select Cancel.

To define save options for one or more projects

  1. Log in to MicroStrategy Web.
  2. On the upper right of any page, click your user name, and then select Preferences from the drop-down. By default, the General preferences page is displayed.

    • To display the Save As icon in the toolbar for reports and documents, select Save As. When you save changes to dashboards, documents, or reports, no confirmation message is displayed.
