MicroStrategy ONE

Dynamic Address Lists Preferences

You can deliver reports and documents by subscribing individual addresses and related personalization that is stored in sources other than the metadata. To do so, you must first define a dynamic recipient list containing each contact to which you want to deliver data. Dynamic recipient lists allow you to quickly create subscriptions for multiple contacts without having an administrator add each contact to MicroStrategy manually. You can create dynamic recipient lists using the Dynamic Address Lists preferences page.

Dynamic recipient lists are based on a special source report you create, which contains email addresses, user IDs, and chosen devices to which to deliver standard MicroStrategy reports and documents. From this source report, you create the dynamic recipient list. The new dynamic recipient list appears in the list of Available Recipients when defining a new subscription to a standard report or document. When the subscription is executed, only the dynamic addresses returned by the source report are included in the delivery.

Dynamic recipient lists allow you to group multiple addresses together by linking contacts to a MicroStrategy user. The user linked to the contacts can then have reports and documents subscribed to the contacts, allowing reports and documents to be delivered to selected addresses and delivery locations defined for those contacts. Each contact can be linked to only one MicroStrategy user account, so no other MicroStrategy users can see the address used by a contact. In addition, the security filters and access control lists (ACLs) that are applied to the linked user are also applied to reports and documents sent to any contacts associated with that user. For example, if a user has a security filter that restricts their from viewing sales data about regions other than their own region, subscriptions delivered to any contacts associated with that user will not contain sales data about regions other than that user's region.

On the upper right of any page, click your user name, and then select Preferences from the drop-down. From the left, select Dynamic Address Lists.

Click Add a New Dynamic Address List. The Create a New Dynamic Recipient List dialog box opens. Select the appropriate options to define the dynamic recipient list, then click Save. Your new dynamic recipient list is added.

After you create a dynamic address list, you can:

  • Edit the list, by clicking Edit next to the list. The Create a New Dynamic Recipient List dialog box opens. Select the appropriate options to define the dynamic recipient list, then click Save.
  • Delete the list, by clicking Delete next to the list.
