MicroStrategy ONE

View Logs Page

You can quickly view and filter the MicroStrategy Web log from the View Logs page. By specifying a date range and type of logged information, such as warnings, errors, or messages, you can determine which sections of the log are displayed. Choosing which specific log information to display is convenient because you do not have to search through an entire log file to locate a specific error or warning that occurred on a certain date. The log information you specify is displayed at the bottom of the View Logs page.

The View Logs page displays information from the log at the same level of detail that can go up to whatever level is set in the Diagnostics Configuration Page. For example, if you specified that the logs contain all warnings, that log information is displayed on the View Logs page.

Accessing the View logs page

  1. Access the MicroStrategy Web Administrator page. (How?)

  2. From the pane on the left, select View Logs. The View Logs page opens.

Contents of the View Logs page

The View Logs page consists of the following options:

  • Display: To filter the information displayed in the log on the View Logs page, choose whether the log displays information about the following. Depending on the option you choose, the information (if available) is displayed at the bottom of the page.

    • Errors: Logged errors are displayed on the screen. This is selected by default.

    • Warnings: Logged warnings are displayed on the screen.

    • Messages: Logged messages are displayed on the screen.

The information displayed in the log depends on the level you choose in the Diagnostics Configuration Page. If you do not choose to record any information, no logs are displayed on the View Logs page. For steps to choose information to log, see How to Determine What and Where Information is Logged.

  • From: The first date for which you want to display log file information.

  • To: The last date for which you want to display log file information. By default, it displays the current date. Together, theFromandTodate settings specify the range of log information to be displayed.

If the From and To date boxes are equal, logs are viewed for that day only.

  • Refresh: After you specify the log display options, click Refresh to display the matching log file information. The log file is displayed at the bottom of the page. The information displays:

    • The time and date when the event log was created

    • The name of the user who logged in

    • The IP address of the user

    • The level of the information log

    • The class

    • The method which relates to this log

    • The entire message
