Export Base Formula dialog box

You can save a metric formula to reuse it in other metric definitions, instead of retyping or rebuilding a formula you frequently use.

This dialog box is the standard save dialog box, with the Save as type set to Base Formula. You can:

Browse to select the folder in which to save the new base formula.
Enter a name for the new base formula.
Select whether to use the base formula in the current metric. By default, the Replace the Base Formula with a shortcut to this one check box is selected. This means the metric uses the saved base formula. If you clear the check box, the base formula is saved but the metric does not use it; the original formula is retained.

Accessing the Export Base Formula dialog box

Click Formula on the Metric component pane (located under the heading "Metric (metric name) is defined as") of the Metric Editor. How to access the Metric Editor

From the Tools menu, select Save Expression as Base Formula.

This option is available only if Formula is selected and the metric does not already use a base formula.
