Page Setup dialog box: Header/Footer tab (Filter Editor & Security Filter Editor)

On the Header/Footer tab, you can have the most impact on the design of your printout. The Edit list allows you to toggle between header and footer as you work on each. The Line width list lets you choose the thickness of the lines that delineate the header and footer regions from the main body of the printout. Below the list boxes is a toolbar with the following features:

  • Font allows you to change the font, font style, and size of the text presented in your printout. You can also add underlining and strikeout effects, in addition to changing the color of the text.

  • Insert Page Number permits you to display the page number in the header or the footer.

  • Insert Number of Pages specifies the total number of pages in the printout. Used with the Insert Page Number feature, you can see the current page in terms of the total number of pages, for example, page 13 of 21.

  • Insert Date records when the printout was made.

  • Insert Time identifies precisely the time the printout was sent to the printer.

  • Insert Project Name allows you to include the project name in the header or the footer.

  • Insert Filter Name allows you to include the filter name in the header or the footer.

  • Insert Report Details allows you to include the report details in the header or the footer.

  • Insert Image lets you import graphics of any format supported by your printer.

  • Insert User ID lets you print the user ID that you used to log in the project.

Below the toolbar are three blank fields: left, center, and right. These fields allow you to justify the placement of information in the header and footer. By first clicking in a field, you establish an insertion point for information added from the toolbar. Clicking an icon on the toolbar inserts the name of the feature in the field where you first clicked.

Once you have finished designing the header, select Footer from the Edit list. Your previous design is contained in the drop-down list beneath the three fields. As you insert elements into the header and footer of your project schema printout, a thumbnail on the right side of the tab screen indicates whether you are working in the header or the footer.
