About formatting a graph report

Formatting a graph report enables you to specify font, line, and fill characteristics for text, line, and area objects in a graph. This allows you to highlight information as appropriate, and to make your graph reports easier to read and understand.

You can format several graph objects via the Formatting option in the Graph menu in Grid/Graph or Graph view. The Title, Subtitle, Footnote, X Axis Label, Y1 Axis Label, and Y2 Axis Label options are enabled only if the option is used in the graph. For example, you can select the option Title only if the graph includes a title.

  • Title: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the title of a graph report.

  • Legend: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the legend in a graph report.

  • Subtitle: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the subtitle of a graph report.

  • Footnote: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of a footnote in a graph report.

  • Background: You can apply a color, pattern, gradient, texture, or picture to the background of a graph report.

  • Frame: You can apply the color, pattern, gradient, texture, or picture to the frame of a graph report.

  • X-axis: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the X-axis in a graph report.

  • Y1-axis: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the Y1-axis in a graph report.

  • Y2-axis: You can format the color, font, size, style, alignment, and box of the Y2-axis in a graph report.

Additional objects can be formatted by selecting them, right-clicking, and then choosing Format<object name> from the right-click menu. These include the following:

  • Labels: You can format the color, font, size, style, and box of the labels in a graph report.

  • Headers: You can format the color, font, size, style, and box of the headers in a graph report.

  • Risers (bar, area, and so on): You can apply a color, line, pattern, gradient, texture, or picture to the risers in a graph report.

  • Pieslices: You can apply a color, line, pattern, gradient, texture, or picture to the pie slices in a graph report.

  • 3Dobjects: You can apply a color, line, pattern, gradient, texture, and picture to the 3D objects in a graph report.

In all cases, the Preferences dialog box opens, with choices dependent on the object selected. For more information, refer to the following:
