MicroStrategy ONE

Using Data Mining Services

Data mining is a broad term often used to describe sifting through a large amount of data in search of valuable information. Data mining is the process of extending existing information to gain new insights. This includes analysis techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, and association. All of these approaches have a common purpose: to predict new outcomes based on past experience.

MicroStrategy Data Mining Services help facilitate the development and deployment of these predictive models. By extending the analytical power of the MicroStrategy platform to products used to develop predictive models, the potential of your data is easier to exploit.

Predictive models are created using MicroStrategy or a third party application. The process for creating and utilizing these models involves the following steps:

  1. Generate a dataset that contains the data that will be used to develop the predictive model.

  2. Create the predictive model using MicroStrategy or a third party application.

  3. Create the predictive metric using MicroStrategy Developer.

  4. Deploy the predictive metric in reports, filters, custom groups, or anywhere else MicroStrategy metrics are used.

  5. View the predictive model using the MicroStrategy Predictive Model Viewer.
