Derived Elements Editor: Property tab

From the Property tab of the Derived elements Editor you can define how to display derived elements, apply derived elements to subtotals, and apply a derived element's attribute elements to the All Other group. The various options for derived elements available in the Property tab of the Derived Element Editor are described below:

  •

  • Element Behavior options allow you to define how the derived elements are displayed on reports and Grid/Graphs, as described below:

  • Consolidate items into one element: The derived element is displayed as a single element with the data of all of its items combined as determined by the derived element.

  • Keep individual items separate: The attribute elements included as items of a derived element are displayed separately.

  • Subtotal behavior drop-down options allow you to define how the metric values associated with derived elements are used in the subtotals on a report, as described below:

  • Use this element when calculating subtotals: The derived element values are applied to all subtotals. This means that a derived element's aggregated data is applied to all subtotals for the report, rather than the values for the individual items that are part of a derived element.

  • Use the individual items that make up this element when calculating subtotals: The values of the separate items that make up the derived element are applied to all subtotals. For Group and Filter derived elements, only attribute elements can be included as items of derived elements. Calculation derived elements can include attribute elements as well as other derived elements.

  • Do not use this element when calculating subtotals: This option excludes the derived element values and separate item values from all subtotals. You can use this option to avoid double counting when an attribute element is included in more than one derived element.

  •  Apply element to all other calculation options allow you to specify whether the attribute elements that are used to define a derived element are included in the All Other group. The options described below are not displayed when you select the All Other group:

  • Do not include individual items in the All Other element: The attribute elements that are used to define the derived element are excluded from the All Other derived element.

  • Include Individual items in the All Other element: The attribute elements that are used to define the derived element are included in the All Other derived element.
