How to Move Objects On a Graph Report

A graph report's layout depends on the location of report objects on the grid of the report. For example, a grid report with its metrics in the rows and attributes in the columns produces a different graph layout than a grid report with the same metrics in the columns and attributes in the rows.

You can select Grid and Graph view to see the grid and corresponding graph side-by-side. You can immediately see how the corresponding graph changes when you make changes to the grid layout.

Depending on the graph style that your report is displayed in, if you reposition attributes and metrics on your graph in a certain way it is possible that the graph can no longer be displayed. When this occurs, the system notifies you that the report contains insufficient data to be displayed in the selected graph style.

See the table in Minimum object requirements for each graph style for information about the requirements for each graph style. Once you have determined that the graph style is an appropriate choice, experiment with different ways to position the attributes and metrics on the grid until the graph is generated in the selected style.

To Move Objects on a Graph Object

  1. Click the name of the graph report to execute it.
  2. Check that you have chosen the right graph style for the number of attributes and metrics you have. See the table in Minimum object requirements for each graph style for information about the minimum requirements of each graph style.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • If the report is displayed as both a grid and a graph, follow the steps in Moving objects on a grid report. When you move report objects on the grid report, the graph view of the report is automatically updated.
    • Use the graph drop zones to drag and drop objects from one zone to another in the report.
