Connect to Oracle

Starting in Strategy One (April 2026), you can create an Oracle data source using a TNS Names connection.

Connect to Oracle using Strategy's modern solution offerings. Strategy supports a wide range of Oracle versions across its platform.

Prerequisites

  • If you are using Cloud Wallet to connect to Oracle, you must have access to your Cloud Wallet zip file.

  • If you are using TNS Names Connection to connect to Oracle, you must have your TNS Names ORA file.

Connect to Oracle in Workstation

  1. Open the Workstation window.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click , next to Data Sources.

  3. Click Oracle.

  4. Type a Name for the data source.

  5. Expand the Database Version drop-down list and choose your Oracle database version.

  6. Expand the Default Database Connection drop-down list and choose Add New Database Connection.

  7. Type a Name for the database connection.

  8. Expand the Driver drop-down list and select the JDBC or ODBC driver.

  9. Expand the Connection Method drop-down list and choose Standard, Cloud Wallet, or starting in Strategy One (April 2026), TNS Names Connection.

  10. If you choose Standard:

    1. Type your Oracle Host Name.

    2. Type your Oracle Port Number.

    3. Type your Oracle SID or Service Name.

  11. If you choose Cloud Wallet, click Select a File, find your Cloud Wallet configuration file, and click Open.

  12. If you choose TNS Names Connection:

    1. Type the Oracle Server Name.

    2. Click Select a File, find your ORA file, and click Open.

  13. Expand Default Database Login and choose your Oracle database login or click Add New Database Login.

  14. Optionally click Test.

  15. If the connection is successful, click Save.

  16. Optionally type a User Comment and click OK.

  17. Expand the Projects drop-down list and choose the projects to associate with the data source.

  18. Click Save.
