Accessing an Existing Plug-in

This topic describes how to access an existing plug-in using the Web Customization Editor to perform additional customization changes. You can follow either of the methods listed below.

Using the Toolbar Button

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.  

  2. Click on the toolbar for the Application Settings or the CSS Settings views to launch the Select Plug-In dialog.  

  3. Select the plug-in from the drop-down menu for Plug-in Folder.  

  4. Click OK.

The Web Customization Editor refreshes itself and loads the settings from the plug-in. The name of the plug-in displayed in the status bar at the bottom.

Note the following:

  • Do not access WebCustomizationEditor-WebPlugin from the plugins subfolder inside the MicroStrategy Web installation folder. This plug-in is intended solely for MicroStrategy use to enable interactivity between the Web Customization Editor and MicroStrategy Web.  

  • Do not add your customizations to WebCustomizationEditor-WebPlugin. This plug-in is intended solely for MicroStrategy use to enable interactivity between the Web Customization Editor and MicroStrategy Web.  

  • It is recommended that you do not use this plug-in (WebCustomizationEditor-WebPlugin) in a production environment since it can affect performance of MicroStrategy Web.

Using MicroStrategy Preferences

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor

  2. Launch the Preferences dialog from Window->Preferences, and click MicroStrategy preference added on the left. 

  3. Click the Change button next to the Customization Folder text field. 

  4. Select the plug-in from the drop-down menu for Plug-in Folder

  5. Click OK. The name of this plug-in is displayed in the Customization Folder text field. 

  6. Click Apply

  7. Click OK.

The Web Customization Editor refreshes itself and loads the settings from the plug-in. The name of the plug-in displayed in the status bar at the bottom.

Note the following:

  • Do not access WebCustomizationEditor-WebPlugin from the plugins subfolder inside the MicroStrategy Web installation folder. This plug-in is intended solely for MicroStrategy use to enable interactivity between the Web Customization Editor and MicroStrategy Web.
