Selecting available display modes for MicroStrategy Web

MicroStrategy Web provides a number of different display modes; see Viewing and interacting with documents in MicroStrategy Web for a comparison. In MicroStrategy Developer, you can select the modes that are available for displaying a specific document, and also which mode the document should initially open in.

You can preview a document for MicroStrategy Web, using either HTML View or Flash View. For instructions, see Previewing documents for MicroStrategy Web. You can also export a document to HTML or Flash. For instructions and more information, see Opening documents in separate browser windows: Exporting documents to HTML and Exporting RS dashboards to Flash for stand-alone use.

To select available display modes for MicroStrategy Web

This procedure affects the entire document, including all layouts of a multi-layout document. For more information on multi-layout documents, see Creating multi-layout documents.

  1. Open the document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. From the Format menu, select Document Properties. The Document Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Select Document.

  4. In the Available display modes list, select the check boxes for each mode that this document should display in. Clear the check box for any mode that should not available.

To view a document in Flash Mode, Flash Player must be installed on the machine. For the latest Flash Player version requirements, see the MicroStrategy readme or contact your administrator.

  5. Select the mode in which the document initially opens from the Run by default as drop-down list. If you did not select the check box for that mode in the Available display modes list above, the check box is automatically selected.

  6. Click OK to return to the document.
