Using documents in MicroStrategy Web

Documents in MicroStrategy Web have the same functionality as documents in MicroStrategy Developer, such as viewing, printing, and exporting. In MicroStrategy Web, you can also interact with documents, schedule them, and send them to specified email addresses. These MicroStrategy Web features are discussed briefly in the topics listed below. For details on any document functionality in Web, consult the MicroStrategy Web Help. The Document and Dashboard Analysis Guide also contains additional information about analyzing Report Services (RS) dashboards in Web.

You view and work with a document using different display modes in MicroStrategy Web; each mode is explained in detail in Viewing and interacting with documents in MicroStrategy Web. The MicroStrategy Web display modes are not available in MicroStrategy Developer, but you can, in MicroStrategy Developer, select:

  • The modes that are available for a specific document

  • Which mode the document should initially open in

For instructions on how to select the MicroStrategy Web display modes in MicroStrategy Developer, see Selecting available display modes for MicroStrategy Web.

You can also display and interact with Visual Insight (VI) dashboards, which are customized, interactive displays that you can use to explore your business data. For example, you can sort and rearrange data in an interactive grid, perform manipulations on the data to display only the information that you are interested in, and display visual representations of the data in the VI dashboard to make the data easier to interpret. For an overview of VI dashboards, see About Visual Insight (VI) dashboards. For instructions to use VI dashboards, see the MicroStrategy Web Help.
