Prompt Generation Wizard: Qualify on an Attribute page

A "Qualify on an attribute" prompt allows a user to qualify, during report execution, on an attribute form, such as ID, description, and so on. This type of prompt is used in a filter or a custom group element.

This page allows you to select the attributes from which the user can select. Restricting the number of objects to be displayed can serve a number of purposes, including performance improvement, security, and simplification of the display.

Choose one of the following options:

  • Choose an attribute allows you to select a specific attribute, in either of the following ways:

    • Enter the name of the attribute.

    • Click Browse to display the attributes in the project.

  • Use the results of a search object to use a set of attributes from a search object. Use the buttons described below to set the search object.

  • Browse uses an existing search.

  • New creates a new search. For instructions, see the list of Search for Objects procedures.

After you set the search object, use the following buttons to make changes:

    • Clear to delete the search object.

    • Edit to open the Search for Objects dialog box and modify the search.

    • Use a predefined list of attributes to select the attributes manually. Use the buttons described below to create the list.

    • Add opens the Select Objects dialog box, which allows you to choose the attributes for the list.

Once an attribute has been selected, this button is replaced by Modify, which opens the Select Objects dialog box so you can select additional attributes.

    • Remove deletes the selected attribute from the list.

    • Clear deletes all the attributes in the list.

    • Up and Down arrows move the selected attribute to change the order the objects are displayed in the prompt.

The options in the Displayed forms drop-down list set how the attribute forms in the hierarchy are displayed. They are:

  • All attribute forms, which displays all attribute forms. This is the default setting.

  • Browse forms, which displays only the browse forms defined in the Attribute Editor.

  • Report display forms, which displays only report display forms defined in the Attribute Editor.

  • Custom forms, which displays only the attribute forms that you select (available only if Choose an attributeis selected).

After you select Custom forms, the Select Forms button is enabled. Click Select Forms to display a list of attribute forms for the selected attribute. Select the attribute forms to display, then click OKto return to the Prompt Generation Wizard page.

The actual number of attribute forms displayed during prompt resolution depends on the attribute definition and on how the attribute forms are categorized.
