Strategy ONE

Managed Cloud Standard Limitations

Managed Cloud Standard (MCS) is Strategy's lightweight cloud offering for smaller teams. MCS offers a wide variety of modern Strategy One AI & BI functionality, but is limited compared to Managed Cloud Enterprise (MCE), Strategy's enterprise cloud offering. Upgrading to MCE increases capacity limits and provides access to more features.

MCS is affected by the following limitations:

  • MCS is limited to the modern interface stack only: Workstation, Library, Library Mobile App, etc.

  • Auto Bots, Platform Analytics, Transaction Service, Insights, Community Connector, and legacy Strategy interfaces are not available.

  • Migration limitations:

    • Migrations to MCS do not involve the Strategy migrations team.

    • Migration packages enable content movement between environments and project.

    • Migrations from on-premise environments to MCS requires manual rebuild and modernization. Contact your account team for more information.

    • For more information on MCS migration best practices, see KB489382: MCS: Object Migration Best Practices.

  • Supported authentication modes are limited in MCS:

    • Supported authentication modes: Standard, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SAML.

    • Unsupported authentication modes: LDAP, anonymous, integrated authentication, MicroStrategy Identity, and custom authentication.

  • In MCS, connection to on-premise data source is supported by the Data Gateway Agent. Data Gateway Agent limitations include:

    • Only database sources are supported.

    • Some authentication methods, such as OAuth and Kerberos, that require third-party interactions may not be supported through these gateways.

    • You can only have a maximum of 90 data sources.

    • Security is limited to measures including access privileges and IP whitelist to mitigate risks.

    • The current agent is shared by all users in an environment. All users with the Create and edit database instances and connections privilege can use the agent. There is no precise Access Control List control on the database connection.
