Create a Level Metric

To create a metric, you must define the metric's formula, which consists of the following:

  • Function: The calculation applied to your business data, such as Sum or Count. Depending on how you create the metric, your metric may contain multiple functions.
  • Expression: The business data from your data source. The expression can contain business facts, attributes, or other metrics.
  1. Open an existing document.
  2. In the Dataset Objects panel, right click a dateset, and select Insert New Metric.
  3. Click Switch to Function Editor in the bottom pane.
  4. Select a function and complete the arguments in the right pane.
  5. Define the target attribute for the level metric by selecting it from the Level drop-down.
  6. To change the grouping and filtering behavior of the level metric, click level options next to the level drop-down.
  7. Click Switch to Formula Editor and click Validate to check the metric expression.
  8. Click Save.
