Editing Custom Group Elements
The steps below show you how to perform various editing tasks in MicroStrategy Web. For steps in MicroStrategy Developer, click Help.
You must have the Web Use Custom Group Editor privilege to create, edit, or delete custom groups in the Custom Group Editor in MicroStrategy Web.
Use the following ways to edit a custom group element in MicroStrategy Web:
Create a New Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Click Create New Custom Group Element, then select the appropriate options to define a filtering condition for the custom group element. For detailed steps to create a custom group and filtering conditions, see Creating a Custom Group.

Click Save to save changes.
Rename a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Click the name of a custom group element and type a new name in the field.

Click Save to save changes.
Add a Condition to a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Click the arrow to the left of a custom group element to expand it.

Click New Condition, then select the appropriate options to define the filtering condition. For detailed steps to create a filtering condition, click Help within the Condition Editor.

Click Save to save changes.
Edit the Conditions in a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Click the arrow to the left of a custom group element to expand it.

To edit a condition, click the condition's name, then select the appropriate options to redefine the condition. For detailed steps, see Editing the Conditions in a Custom Group Element.

Click Save to save changes.
Duplicate a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Hover the cursor over the element to duplicate.

From the right, click the Duplicate
icon. A copy of the element appears in the list.

Click Save to save changes.
Make a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Click the custom group element, then drag it to a new location.

Click Save to save changes.
Format a Custom Group Element

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

From the left, click Format. The Format Custom Group dialog box opens.

Select a custom group element to format from the first drop-down list.

Select the part of the custom group element to format. The options are:

Element Header: Specify the formatting for the name of the custom group element.

Element Value: Specify the formatting for the data for the custom group element.

Individual Items Header: Specify the formatting for the individual items in the custom group element.
-
Individual Items Value: Specify the formatting for the data for each individual item.

Select the appropriate formatting options to format the custom group element. For more information on the formatting options available, click Help in the Format Custom Group dialog box.

Click OK to apply changes.

Click Save to save changes.
Specify How a Custom Group Element is Displayed in a Grid Report
You can display the custom group element using the element name, individual items in the element, or bot.

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

Hover the cursor over the element to edit.

From the right, click the Element Display Options
icon. The Element Options dialog box opens. From the Display drop-down list, select one of the following:

Display element name only (Default): Displays the name of the custom group element.

Display individual items only: Displays the names of individual items in the custom group element.

Display element name and individual items: Both the name of the custom group element and the items in the custom group element are displayed.

Click Save to save changes.
Edit Options
Options include whether attribute elements in a custom group element are indented and how to the custom group interacts with the report filter.

Right-click the custom group, then select Edit. The Custom Group Editor opens.

From the left, click Options. The Custom Group Options dialog box opens.

Select the appropriate options, such as whether to display subtotals in the custom group. For details on the options available, click Help. The Preview pane displays a preview of the custom group when the currently selected options are applied.

Click OK to apply changes.

Click Save to save changes.
