MicroStrategy ONE

How to Specify Locale and Internationalization Settings

You can determine the language in which MicroStrategy Web pages are displayed to users. You can also specify several other locale and internationalization settings, including the following:

  • The language in which numbers and dates are displayed in MicroStrategy Web.

  • The language of the metadata and project data.

  • The unit of measurement to use for the alignment grid, rulers, and the measurement and position of objects in MicroStrategy Web.

  • The time zone in which you or your users work.

If you add or remove a language from a project, the list of metadata and data locales may not be updated until you restart the Web server. To avoid having to restart the Web server, you can disable the MicroStrategy Web cookies. For detailed instructions on how to disable cookies, see Encrypting traffic, managing browser caching, and managing session information.

  1. Log in to a project using an account with administrative privileges.

  2. From the upper right of any page, click the username drop-down and select Preferences. The Preferences page opens.

  3. From the pane on the left, select Project defaults.

  4. From the pane on the left, select General, if it is not already selected. The General project defaults page opens.

  5. In the Language area, from the Language drop-down list, specify the language in which to display MicroStrategy Web pages.

  6. From the Number and Date Format drop-down list, specify the locale in which to display numbers and dates in MicroStrategy Web. This setting is not applied until users log out and then log back in to the project.

  7. From the Metadata drop-down list, specify the language in which to display the project metadata, such as attribute names. If the desired language is not listed, you may need to restart your web server.

  8. From the Data drop-down list, specify the language in which to display the project data, such as attribute elements. If the desired language is not listed, you may need to restart your web server.

  9. From the Intelligence Server drop-down list, select the language in which to display messages from the Intelligence Server.

  10. From the Measurement Units drop-down list, specify the unit of measurement that MicroStrategy Web should use for horizontal and vertical rulers, the alignment grid, and the measurement and positioning of objects.

  11. From the Time Zone drop-down list, specify the time zone in which your users work (relative to GMT).

    • The Number and Date Format setting, along with the Time Zone setting, ensure that object creation/modification dates and times are converted to your local time if the project information is in another time zone.

    • The Number and Date Format and Time Zone settings do not affect report execution dates and times shown in the History List.

  12. From the drop-down list at the bottom, select one of the following:

    • To apply the changes to the current project, select Apply to current project.

    • To apply the changes to all the projects you have access to that are stored on the Intelligence Server, select Apply changes to all projects on the current Intelligence Server.

  13. Click Apply.
