Configure User Password Expiration

Starting in MicroStrategy ONE (June 2024), Administrators can configure password expiration for a given user to enhance security, by regularly prompting users to update their passwords, mitigating the risk of unauthorized access due to compromised or weak credentials.

1. Open the Workstation window.
2. In the Navigation pane, click Users & Groups.
3. Select an Environment from the upper-left drop-down list.

4. In the left pane, click All Users to display a list of users.

   

5. Double–click the user. The Account and Credentials section opens.



6. Turn on Enable Password Expiration.

   • The User Cannot Change Password check box must be cleared for this password expiration to be enabled.

7. Either select the Expiration Date or specify the number of days before Expiration.

   • As soon as you do one, the other is automatically filled in.

8. To specify how often the password must be changed (optional), specify the Expiration Frequency in days.



9. Click Save.
