Create a JDBC SAP HANA Connection

Starting in MicroStrategy ONE (September 2024), you can connect to SAP HANA using JDBC.

Connect in MicroStrategy

  1. Open the Workstation window.

  2. Connect to an environment.

  3. In the Navigation pane, click ,next to Data Sources.

  4. Search and choose SAP HANA from the data source list.

  5. In the Default Database Connection drop-down, click Add New Database Connection.

  6. Enter a Name, Server, and Port Number.

  7. In the Authentication Mode drop-down in the Basic tab, choose Standard, OAuth, or OIDC Single Sign-On and enter the required information.

  8. In the Security tab, toggle on Use TLS Encryption and upload a private certificate, if required.

  9. Click Save.

  10. In the Add Data Source dialog, enter a Name, Database Version, and optionally choose Projects for further data manipulation.

  11. Click Save.

  12. In the Navigation pane, click , next to Datasets.

  13. Choose a Project and select Data Import Cube.

  14. Click OK.

  15. In the data source list, find and select SAP HANA.

  16. In the Select Data Import Options dialog, select Type Query or Build Query.

  17. Click the data source to connect to SAP HANA.

  18. Click Prepare Data or Finish.

  1. Create a blank dashboard.

  2. In the Datasets panel, click New Data.

  3. Click , next to Data Catalog.

  4. Search and choose SAP HANA from the data source list.

  5. In Default Database Connection, click Add New Database Connection.

  6. In the Authentication Mode drop-down in the Basic tab, choose Standard, OAuth, or OIDC Single Sign-On and enter the required information.

  7. In the Security tab, toggle on Use TLS Encryption and upload a private certificate, if required.

  8. Click Save.

  9. Type a Name and choose a Database Version.

  10. Click Save.

  11. Choose your new data source in the Data Catalog list to connect to SAP HANA.
