Set Qualification pane: Metric qualification

A metric qualification is a type of set qualification; a custom group contains at least one qualification. A metric set qualification creates a set of attributes based on the metrics associated with those attributes. For more information, see Creating custom group metric qualifications.

Set Qualification pane: Metric qualification content

Different options are displayed in the Set Qualification pane depending on the Set Qualification Type. When the Type is set to Metric, the following options are displayed:

  • Prompt: Opens the Prompt Generation Wizard, which allows you to create a Prompted metric qualification.

After you create the prompt, the Set Qualification pane displays the prompt information; you can only edit the prompt and set the advanced options. Edit the prompt by clicking the Edit Prompt button which replaced the Prompt button. See the Advanced option description below for a description of the advanced options.

  • Output Level: The level at which to calculate the metric. Click to set the output level using the Level: Output tab.

  • Metric: The target metric, that is, the metric to test in the qualification. Use any of the following methods to select a metric:

    • Drag the metric from the Object Browser.

    • Type the name of the metric.

    • Click ... (the browse button) to browse for the metric.

    • Click Choose a metric prompt to open the Prompt Generation Wizard, which allows you to qualify on a metric. See Prompted metric qualifications for more information.

  • Function: The criterion for metric calculation. Select from Metric Value, Rank, and Percent.

  • Operator: The operator to determine a value range for the metric calculation. Select from the drop-down list; the options vary depending on the Function selected.

  • Drop-down list and text box: The drop-down list contains the types of operator value to which to compare. These types are listed below, with information on how to fill in the text box next to the drop-down list.

  • Value: Enter the value to qualify the metric on in the text box.

  • Simple Prompt: Creates a value prompt, allowing you to select a single value on which to qualify. The Prompt Generation Wizard opens. See Prompted metric qualifications for more information.

This is the same as clicking the Simple Prompt icon at the end of the text box. If this icon is not displayed, you need to set the Show all available prompts buttons option in the My Preferences dialog box. See Defining the default options for the Custom Group Editor for instructions.

  • Metric: Creates a metric-to-metric qualification. Type a metric name in the text box or click to browse for a metric.

  • Custom: Enter a custom expression to qualify the function in the text box.

If you selected Between or Not Between as the Operator, two lists and two text boxes are displayed.

  • Break By: (Displayed if Function is set to Rank or Percent) The attribute level at which to restart counting the values for the metric, set in the Level: Breakby tab.

  • Advanced: Specifies whether existing attribute qualifications are merged into the calculation of the metric qualification, set in the Advanced Options dialog box. By default, the qualifications are merged.
