MicroStrategy ONE

Metric Editor: Tools menu

The options in the Tools menu allow you to view and modify the following metric settings:

  • Formatting: formats the numeric display, fonts, and patterns of either:

  • Metric headers

  • Metric cell values

  • Metric Join Type: allows selection of a join type (inner, outer, or default) for a metric. The join type determines how the metric is joined to other metrics.

This option is a shortcut to the Metric Join Type VLDB property located in the VLDB Properties option in this same menu.

  • Advanced Settings: contains the following options:

  • VLDB Properties: to access, view, and modify VLDB settings for a metric

  • Formula Join Type: to select a join type for a metric base formula

  • Metric Column Options: to specify an alias for a metric column; aliases rename metrics for data mart reports and in SQL generation

  • Save Expression as Base Formula: exports the metric formula as a base formula. Base formulas can be reused in other metric definitions. You can also choose whether the metric uses the current formula or a shortcut to the saved base formula.

This option is available only if Formula is selected in the Metric component pane (located under the heading "Metric (metric name) is defined as") and the metric does not already use a base formula.

  • Import (Base Formula name): replaces the shortcut to the base formula with the actual formula definition of the base formula. For more information and directions, see Importing base formulas.

This option is available only if Formula is selected in the Metric component pane (located under the heading "Metric (metric name) is defined as") and the metric uses a shortcut to a base formula.
