Joining filter qualifications with operators: OR

Before you begin

This topic assumes that you are familiar with filters. For background information, see About filters, Types of qualifications, and About view filters.

For those familiar with logic terminology, the OR operator acts as an inclusive OR, not an exclusive OR.

The following images show the initial report with no filter, and the resulting report after two filter qualifications are applied and joined with OR. The initial report with no filter appears as follows:

Year and Region, with Revenue metric, no filter (16 rows)

After the filter (Year = 2026) Or (Region = Northeast) is applied, the report appears as follows:

Same report, filtered

The following diagram shows the impact of the OR operator on a result set:

Venn diagram showing the intersection of 2006 revenue and Northeast revenue

As represented by the shaded areas, revenue generated in either 2026, or the Northeast, or in both 2026 and the Northeast, is returned in the result set.
