Report Editor: All Objects

If you arrived here from Workstation, see the Workstation Document Authoring Help.

The All Objects panel provides a place to search for, locate, and select objects that are part of the project. This panel is a primary tool when creating or modifying reports or independent report objects.

To access the All Objects panel, open a report in Design Mode. From the Tools menu, select All Objects. The All Objects panel appears to the left of the report.

All Objects Panel Layout

  • Drop-down list: This panel allows you to browse to the object or object folder in which you would like to work. If you want to add an attribute to your report, then you can browse to the attributes link.
  • Search for: In the field, type the name of the object or object folder that you want to find. Click the Search icon Search icon to locate it. If you have created multiple shortcuts with similar names, your search results can contain duplicate results for the same object. For example, if you have created shortcuts called Regional Sales Metric and Quick Regional Sales, both of which point to a metric called Regional Sales, searching for Regional Sales will return three results, all for the same object. To minimize duplicate search results, you can quickly exclude any shortcuts from the search results. To do so, click the arrow icon to the right of the search field, then select the Exclude Shortcut checkbox. This option is cleared by default.
  • Tree Tree icon: You can click this icon to display the objects in the All Objects panel in Tree display mode.
  • All Objects panel: This panel contains all of the objects in your project that you can use in creating and modifying a report.
