Signing in to AirWatch by Scanning a QR Code

AirWatch® users can log in using their smartphones to scan a QR code displayed on the computer screen. After you integrate the web application with MicroStrategy Identity, the AirWatch login page displays a QR code.

The following steps contain only the information required to configure or use AirWatch with MicroStrategy Identity. The information provided is subject to change. See the appropriate third-party documentation for the latest information.

You have administrative privileges for the AirWatch Admin Console.

To display a custom image on the MicroStrategy Identity login page for your AirWatch Admin Console, you must create the image to display. Supported image formats are .png, .jpeg, and .jpg files.

If your AirWatch Admin Console users are populated from an identity management (IDM) system such as Microsoft Active Directory or OpenLDAP, MicroStrategy recommends that you add users to your Identity Network by synchronizing MicroStrategy Identity with the same IDM system as AirWatch. This will help add user information to MicroStrategy Identity and may be easier than adding users manually or by importing a file. For steps, see Synchronizing Users from Microsoft Active Directory or Synchronizing Users from OpenLDAP.

To Register AirWatch with MicroStrategy Identity

  1. Log into MicroStrategy Identity Manager.
  2. Click Logical Gateways.
  3. Under Web Application Login, click More, then click AirWatch.
  4. You can change the image that is displayed on your AirWatch Admin Console login page. Next to the image preview, click Import An Icon. Select an image to display, then click Open.
  5. In the Enter Display Name field, provide a name to display on the AirWatch Admin Console login page.
  6. Download the MicroStrategy Identity provider metadata file. The metadata includes a configuration .xml file that AirWatch uses to automatically configure the settings for connecting to MicroStrategy Identity. Note the location on your computer where the metadata .xml file is saved.
  7. In a new browser window or tab, log in to your AirWatch Admin Console with an administrative account. Do the following:
    1. Navigate to Directory Services, which is typically in the System Settings area.
    2. Select the Use SAML for Authentication option.
    3. Upload the MicroStrategy Identity provider metadata .xml file that you downloaded from MicroStrategy Identity Manager.
    4. Save your changes.
  8. In MicroStrategy Identity Manager, click Next, then click Done.
  9. To navigate to the MicroStrategy Identity login page for your AirWatch Admin Console, add ?GID=MicroStrategy to the end of your login page URL. For more information, see your third-party documentation.
