MicroStrategy ONE

Installing Software Needed for Web Services

If you plan to use the Web Customization Editor to convert a MicroStrategy task to a web service or generate a class with the stub code for a web service, you need to install and configure some additional software. You will specify the locations where you install the software as configuration settings when you configure the MicroStrategy Web Services preferences for the Web Customization Editor.

  • Apache Axis2

Apache Axis is a servlet which implements a SOAP engine. SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is a protocol for exchanging information in a decentralized environment such as a Web Services environment.

  • Apache Ant

Apache Ant is a software tool for automating software build processes. It is implemented using the Java language and requires the Java platform.

  • .NET SDK

Web services that run in a Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 virtual directory require the .NET SDK. For instructions on creating a virtual directory, refer to the product documentation provided by Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

Instructions for downloading, installing, and configuring each software product are provided below.

  • .NET SDK

To install the .NET SDK, do the following:

    1. Download the .NET SDK from the MicroSoft Download Center.
    2. Save the SDK to a location that has no spaces in the fully-qualified path.

When you configure the MicroStrategy Web Services preferences for the Web Customization Editor, you will use this location as the value of the Microsoft .NET SDK location.
