Persona-Based Navigation in Workstation
Workstation is an all-in-one tool used by many different personas, such as:
- Business User: Consumes reports
- Analyst: Creates reports
- Data Architect: Creates the data schema
- Administrator: Manages and monitors the MicroStrategy environment
With each persona having different responsibilities and utilizing different workflows, Workstation can display a customized interface based on each persona's assigned privileges, starting in MicroStrategy 2021 Update 2.
The table below describes the privileges needed to enable each section of the navigation pane on the Workstation window.
Navigation Pane Section | Required Privileges |
Schema | Requires Use Architect Editors to view the Schema section. This provides an overview of the full MicroStrategy schema (lock status, attributes, facts, hierarchies, transformations, and tables). |
Objects |
At least one of the following privileges is required to display the Objects section. Every object type is listed in the Objects section, but each of the following privileges grant the respective capacity required to use each object's editor:
