Editing a Page Section

This topic provides step-by-step instructions on editing a page section for a MicroStrategy Web page.

Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web is enabled

Make sure you have completed the Enabling Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web step before proceeding further.

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.  
  2. Access the MicroStrategy Web page for which you wish to edit the page section.  
  3. Right-click the page section which you want to edit, and click EditpageSectionNameSection where pageSectionName is the name of the page section such as header, content, etc., from the context menu. Clicking the EditpageSectionNameSection option opens a submenu listing the page templates that use that page section.  
  4. From the EditpageSectionNameSection submenu, select the page template for which the section is to be modified. that defines the layout for the page.  
  5. Click the Yes button in the prompt to edit the page section. The appropriate file opens for editing.  
  6. Make necessary modifications to the file.  
  7. Save your changes.

Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web is not enabled

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.  

  2. Click on MicroStrategy Web Configuration inside the Application Settings view to expand the hierarchical tree. The expanded list comprises the different settings that can be modified to perform customizations.  

  3. Click on Pages to expand the list of pages used in MicroStrategy Web.  

  4. Double-click the page for which you wish to select a new file for the page section.  

  5. Click the Template Properties tab at the bottom of the editor.  

  6. Click the tab for the appropriate template, located at the top of the editor, below the Add Template... and Delete buttons.  

  7. Right-click the appropriate page section for which you are selecting a new file, and select Edit current file from the context menu.  

  8. Click Yes. The location field is updated with the new location of the file, and the file opens for editing.  

  9. Make necessary modifications to the file.  

  10. Save your changes.
