- In the left pane, click Other Configuration.
Fields
Browser compatibility: Define browser compatibility options, such as whether to allow Internet Explorer to display MicroStrategy Web in compatibility mode.
Force IE 8+ to render web page in Edge Document mode: Determine whether to force Internet Explorer to display MicroStrategy Web using the most recent document rendering mode available, as follows:
-
Clear this option (default) if you need to embed MicroStrategy Web content under another page using a frame or iFrame, such as in a portal scenario.
-
Select this option if you are deploying MicroStrategy Web as a standalone application and wish to force Internet Explorer to render pages using the most recent document rendering mode available, even if compatibility view mode is enabled.
Installation (MicroStrategy Office): You can determine whether MicroStrategy Web users can install MicroStrategy Office from the Web interface. To do so, you must define the installation directory path for MicroStrategy Office. This is the location from which users will be able to obtain the latest version of MicroStrategy Office. You can also determine whether or not a link to Office installation steps appears in the Web interface. For detailed steps, see How to Allow Users to Install MicroStrategy Office.
This information applies to the legacy MicroStrategy Office add-in, the add‑in for Microsoft Office applications which is no longer actively developed.
It was substituted with a new add‑in, MicroStrategy for Office, which supports Office 365 applications. The initial version does not yet have all the functionalities of the previous add‑in.
If you are using MicroStrategy 2021 Update 2 or a later version, the legacy MicroStrategy Office add-in cannot be installed from Web.;
For more information, see the MicroStrategy for Office page in the Readme and the MicroStrategy for Office Help.
-
Path to MicroStrategy Office configuration: Type the base URL of your MicroStrategy Web Services machine, for example: http://server:port/Web_Services_virtual_directory/Office. This is the location from which users can install MicroStrategy Office from MicroStrategy Web.
-
Automatically append locale-specific path: Select this option if you have users using translated interfaces. MicroStrategy Web automatically attaches /Lang_xxxx/officeinstall.htm to the end of the URL, where Lang_xxxx refers to the currently defined language in Web. For example, if the language in Web is set to German, a completed URL may be displayed as follows: http://localhost/MicroStrategyWS/Office/Lang_1031/officeinstall.htm. Test the URL path by clicking Go. If the path you specified is correct, the MicroStrategy Office Installation page is displayed in the appropriate language. To display the MicroStrategy Office Installation page in English instead, clear this option.
-
Show link to installation page for all users on the Projects and Login pages: Select this option to ensure that an "Install MicroStrategy Office" links appears on Web users' project list and login pages. When a user clicks this link, a page opens with instructions to install MicroStrategy Office. (Selected by default.)
Help Location: By default, the online help for MicroStrategy Web, MicroStrategy Web Administrator, and MicroStrategy Mobile Server is provided on a server hosted and maintained by MicroStrategy, allowing users of these MicroStrategy products to access the most recent and up to date documentation for their associated release. In order to access the documentation, users must connect to the online help over the Internet. If allowing this type of connection is not feasible (for example, if users have a limited Internet connection or security concerns exist), you can provide a copy of the online help on a local web server instead. MicroStrategy provides help files that can be included in MicroStrategy Web or MicroStrategy Mobile Server deployments to provide local access to the online help. For detailed steps, see Customizing MicroStrategy Web.
