Creating an attribute element list qualification

In a filter, an attribute element list qualification allows you to qualify on a list of attribute elements. For a more detailed description, including an example, see Filtering data based on business attribute elements: Attribute element list qualification.

Prerequisite

This procedure assumes that you have already begun creating an attribute qualification. If you have not, see Steps to create an attribute qualification.

To create an attribute element list qualification

  1. In the Attribute Qualification pane, select an attribute in one of the following ways:

    • Type the name of the attribute in the Attribute box and click OK.

    • Click ... (the browse button) to select an attribute from the Attributes folder. Click OK.

    • Drag the attribute from the Object Browser into the Attribute box.

  2. Select Elements from the Qualify On drop-down list.

  3. Select either In list or Not in list from the Operator drop-down list.

  4. Click Add to create the list of elements. The Select Objects dialog box opens.

  5. In the Available objects list, select the elements to include in the qualification. Click > to add them to the Selected objects list. For instructions to search for elements, see Attribute Qualification: Select Objects dialog box.

  6. Click OK to close the Select Objects dialog box.

  7. Finish creating the attribute qualification, beginning at this step.

There is no limit to the number of elements that can be included in the Filter Editor and the SQL engine. However, your warehouse database may limit the number of elements of the In list SQL statement that the engine generates. This limit depends on the type of database and it is applied when the SQL is executed.
