Selecting a database instance for a data mart table

You select a database instance for a data mart table to determine the location in which you want the table to be created. Once you have selected a report as a data mart report, use the Report Data Mart Setup dialog to specify a database instance that the data mart table is to use.

To select a database instance for a data mart table

  1. If the Report Data Mart Setup dialog box is not displayed, open it. For steps to open it, see Data mart tools: Report Data Mart Setup dialog box.

  2. Use the drop-down list under Data Mart Database Instance to select a database instance for the data mart table.

  3. In the entry window next to Table Name, enter the name of the data mart table to be associated with the database instance you have specified.

    The table name may contain valid placeholders, allowing you to modify table names dynamically. For examples, see Report Data Mart Setup dialog box: General tab.

  4. Select whether to Create a new table or Append to an existing table to specify whether the table is to be a new occurrence or part of an existing one.

  5. Select This table contains placeholders check box if applicable.

  6. Click OK to exit the dialog box.
