Creating and editing column aliases in data mart reports

You can use metric column aliases to modify the column that represents the metric in the data mart table. For example, you can assign a column alias of Sales to the Revenue metric, and use the metric on a data mart report. When the data mart table is created, the values for Revenue will now be saved in a column called Sales.

The metric column alias affects data mart tables, and any temporary tables that the SQL Engine creates during analysis.

To create or edit column aliases in data mart reports

  1. Open the report you want to use to create the data mart table.

  2. Right-click the metric to which you want to assign a column alias, and select Edit.

  3. In the Tools menu, select Advanced Settings, and then select Metric Column Options. The Metric Column Alias Options dialog box opens.

  4. Modify the name listed under Column Name. This becomes the metric's alias in the data mart table.

  5. Select a Data Type from the drop-down menu.

  6. Click OK when you are done editing table columns.

  7. Click OK to exit the Metric Column Alias Definition.

  8. Save the metric.
