Options dialog box (Custom Group Editor)

Set how the custom group is displayed on a report and how the report filter interacts with the custom group filter qualifications by using the Options dialog box.

Accessing the Options dialog box

  1. In the Custom Group Editor, select Options from the Custom Group menu.

Options dialog box contents

The Options dialog box contains the following options:

  • Enable hierarchical display: Sets whether the custom group is displayed as a hierarchy, that is, a layered organization, rather than as a flat structure.

    For hierarchical display to work, either Show only the individual items within this element and also, expand these individual items if possible or Show element names, individual items within this element and also, expand these individual items if possible must be selected on the Choose a display option dialog box.

  • Enable subtotals display: Sets whether subtotals are allowed for the custom group.

  • Custom group element header display position: Sets the position of the element header on the report. The options are:

    • Above child elements

    • Below child elements

  • Use default value inherited from Database Instance check box: determines whether the custom group interaction is inherited from the database. Clear this check box to access the Custom Group interaction with report filter.

  • Custom Group interaction with report filter: determines if and how the report filter affects the custom group, as described below. For details on the property and an example, see Custom group interaction with the report filter.

    • No interaction - static custom group applies the report filter after the custom group has been evaluated.

    •  Apply report filter to custom groups applies all the report filter qualifications to the custom group, to help define the custom group elements.

    • Apply report filter to custom group, but ignore related elements from the report filter applies only the report filter qualifications that do not use the same attribute elements as the custom group qualifications. This helps define the custom group elements as well.
