Insert Function Wizard: Sort-By

The Sort-By page is displayed only if the selected function accepts SortBy parameters. Examples of these functions are First, Last, RunningSum, and FirstInRange.

You have the following options:

  • Sort by objects: You can sort by objects that you select. When you select this option, you can modify the objects you choose to sort by in the following ways:

  • Add: Opens the Select Objects dialog box. You can then select the objects to include as SortBy parameters for the function.

  • Remove: Select an object in the list to the left and click Remove to remove the object as a SortBy parameter for the function.

  • Sort order arrows: If you select multiple objects as SortBy parameters, you can use the up and down arrows to modify the order in which the objects are used as SortBy parameters for the function.

  • Order: In the Sort by objects list, you can choose Ascending or Descending from the Order drop-down list for metrics and attributes that are not sorted by their default attribute form. The Order drop-down list cannot be accessed for other objects.

  • Special: In the Sort by objects list, you can select the form of the attribute you want to sort by in the Special drop-down list. Once you select a form other than Default, you can change the Order of the attribute to be Ascending or Descending.

  • Sort by the value of the subexpression: You can sort by the function's input argument. For example, if you define a metric as RunningSum(Metric1), then Metric1 is the subexpression. You can select whether to sort in ascending or descending order.

To continue with the wizard, click Next. The Window page opens.

If Next is disabled, the function does not require any further input. Click Finish to enter the function into the expression.
