Saving documents with prompted datasets

When you save a document after answering prompts, you can set whether your current prompt answers are saved as part of the document definition, as described in the following procedure. For more information on how prompts are used in documents, see Using prompts in documents.

To save a document with a prompted dataset

  1. When you save a document after answering prompts, the Save Options dialog box opens.

To save a document, click Save on the File menu or Save and Close on the toolbar.

  2. Select one of the following options:

    • Display prompt and use the current prompt answers as the default answers: to display the prompts with the saved answers shown as the defaults.

    • Display prompt but discard the current prompt answers: to display the prompts and require the user to answer them. The last prompt answers are not saved.

    • Do not display and use the current prompt answers as the default answers: to use the saved answers to resolve the prompts. The prompts are not displayed when the document is executed again.

If you select the Do not display option, you can still change the answers:

    • Save the document. The Save Options dialog box opens.

    • Change the setting to Display prompt and use the current prompt answers or Display prompt but discard the current prompt answers.

  3. If you select the Remember options next time check box, your settings are saved and displayed when you save the document again.

  4. Click OK to save the document.
