MicroStrategy ONE

Search for Dashboards, Reports, Folders, and Other Objects

You can search for objects:

  • Within your project using the Search field on the home page.
  • In a folder (such as Shared Reports or My Reports) using the Search field at the top of that folder page.

You can search for objects to add to a report:

  • When you are creating the report. To do this, type the object name in one of the Search fields on the report, and then select from the results (for steps, see How to Create a Report).
  • When you are viewing the report. To do this, type the object name in the Search field that displays when you hover between the columns where you want to add the object, and then select from the results (for steps, see How to View a Report as a Grid: Grid View).

By default, dashboards, documents, reports, and folders are searched for in the selected folder (if you are on a folder page) or the entire project (for all other pages). You can change the location, as described in the steps below. If you are having difficulty locating the object, you can also try refining your search to search by object type, owner, date, or description.

As you type, suggestions are displayed below the Search field. After a delay, the first suggestion is automatically submitted to retrieve results. You can select a different suggestion to retrieve results based on that suggestion. To submit the search text exactly as you typed it, press Enter.

You can view, edit, and perform other operations on a search result by right-clicking the object and selecting an action.

To Search for Objects

  1. Click the Search icon Search icon in the navigation bar at the top of the page. The Search dialog box opens.
  2. If you are on the MicroStrategy home page, the entire project is searched by default. If you are on a folder page, that folder is searched by default. You can change what is searched by selecting the project or a folder from the first drop-down list.
  3. By default, objects that contain the search text are displayed, but you can select a different search type from the second drop-down list.
  4. Enter the name of the dashboard, document, report, or folder in the field. As you type, suggestions and results are displayed below the Search field.
  5. Click Refine to specify your search. For steps, see Search by Object Type, Owner, Date, or Description.

This type of search is not available in a report. In a report, you can change the object type. By default, all attributes, consolidations, custom groups, hierarchies, and metrics are searched.

  6. Click the Search icon Search icon to display a list of object types.
  7. Select the object types to search for.
  8. Click in the Search field to close the object type list.
