Save a Personal View of a Dashboard, Document, or Report
You can save your own custom view of a dashboard, document, or report using a personal view. A personal view is a lightweight copy of a dashboard, document, or report, and includes every change that you made to the dashboard, document, or report since you opened it, including:
- Creating metrics
- Filtering
- Pivoting
- Sorting
- Selecting prompt answers for a report or document
- Choosing items in a selector in a document
You can use personal views to save time when choosing data to analyze. For example, a document displays sales and inventory data by region. A selector in the document allows you to choose which region to display data for. If you are the regional manager for the Northeast region, you can select Northeast and save a personal view of the document. By default, when you open the personal view, the data for the Northeast region is displayed. As another example, you can use personal views to save prompt answers so that you do not have to answer the prompts when you re-run a report or document. You can save multiple views of the same dashboard, document, or report, each with its own set of prompt answers.
To create and save a personal view
-
Click the name of the dashboard, document, or report to run it.
Document designers can save data manipulations (such as sorting and items chosen in selectors) without including document design changes (such as moving or adding controls) by opening the document in Design Mode. To open a document in Design Mode, from a folder, right-click the document and select Edit.
