Updating OpenLDAP for MicroStrategy Identity

After you have installed and integrated OpenLDAP with MicroStrategy Identity, you can update the Agent once there are updates available from Identity Manager.

To Update the Agent

  1. Navigate to the OpenLDAP service and stop the service.
  2. Save the most current version of the agent.properties file.
  3. Save the most current version of your sync.history file.
  4. Log into MicroStrategy Identity Manager.
  5. On the main landing page, under Users and Badges, your synchronized OpenLDAP agent is shown.
  6. Click Edit to open the OpenLDAP page.
  7. Under LDAP Mapping, click to download the update. Note the location on your computer where the installation file (for example, setup.exe) is saved.
  8. On the machine where you want to update the OpenLDAP connection, open and run the installation file as an administrator, by right-clicking setup.exe and selecting Run as administrator. The installation wizard opens. Do the following:
    1. Review the information on the Welcome screen, then click Next.
    2. Read the license agreement, and accept or decline the agreement by selecting the appropriate option. If you decline, you cannot complete the update.

    3. After you accept the license agreement, click Next.
    4. The default location for installation is displayed. You can change this if you want to install in a different location. To change the location, click Change, then browse to the location to install the update.
    5. Click Finish to close the installation wizard.
  9. On the same machine, run the Advanced Package Tool to re-provision OpenLDAP.
  10. In the Identity Agent setup tool, select Register new agent, then click Next.
  11. Enter your information to match the values you selected when OpenLDAP was configured for the first time. You must be sure to enter the same values, or OpenLDAP won't be updated. For complete steps, see Synchronizing Users from OpenLDAP .
  12. Enter the connect information for OpenLDAP to communicate to your Active Directory Server. When finished, click Submit. MicroStrategy Identity tests the connection with your Microsoft Active Directory server and completes the configuration of OpenLDAP.
  13. Check to ensure that sync.history file you saved is still intact.
  14. Restart the OpenLDAP service.
