Signing in to New Relic by Scanning a QR Code
The following steps contain only the information required to configure or use New Relic with MicroStrategy Identity. The information provided is subject to change. See the appropriate third-party documentation for the latest information.
You own the New Relic Pro or the New Relic Enterprise product.
You have Owner administrative privileges for New Relic.
To log in to New Relic with MicroStrategy Identity, the email address associated with each user's New Relic account must match the email address associated with the user's badge.
To display a custom image on the New Relic login page, you must create the image to display. Supported image formats are .png
, .jpeg
, and .jpg
files.
If your New Relic users are populated from an identity management (IDM) system such as Microsoft Active Directory or OpenLDAP, MicroStrategy recommends that you add users to your Identity Network by synchronizing MicroStrategy Identity with the same IDM system as New Relic. This helps add user information to MicroStrategy Identity and may be easier than adding users manually or by importing a file. For steps, see Synchronizing Users from Microsoft Active Directory or Synchronizing Users from OpenLDAP.
To Integrate New Relic with MicroStrategy Identity
- In a web browser, log in to New Relic with an administrative account.
- From the drop-down list next to your user name, open Account Settings.
- Expand the menu next to the Account Settings page title and open Single Sign-on.
- In the New Relic SAML Service Provider Details section, note the value provided for Assertion Consumer URL. You will use this information to configure MicroStrategy Identity.
- Log into MicroStrategy Identity Manager.
- Click Logical Gateways.
- Under Web Application Login, click More, then click New Relic.
- You can upload the image to be displayed on New Relic login page. Next to the image preview, click Import An Icon. Select an image to display, then click Open.
- In the Enter Display Name field, provide a name to display on your New Relic login page. The name can be up to 30 characters.
- If the users in your Identity Network are added from Microsoft Active Directory (see Synchronizing Users from Microsoft Active Directory), you can enable users to sign in to New Relic by entering their Active Directory user name and password, rather than scanning a QR code. For example, if not all users in your network have access to a smartphone, you can enable users to sign in with their user name and password. To do this, select the Enable user name and password as a login option check box.
- Click Next.
- In the Assertion Consumer Service URL field, enter the value for Assertion Consumer URL provided by New Relic. Click Next.
- Note the value provided for Login URL. You will use this information to configure New Relic.
- Click MicroStrategy Identity Security Certificate to download the Identity security certificate (for example,
saml2.crt
). Note the location on your computer where the certificate is saved. - Return to the New Relic SAML Single Sign-on page. Provide the following values:
- SAML Identity Provider Certificate: Upload the Identity security certificate that you downloaded from MicroStrategy Identity Manager.
- Remote Login URL: Enter the value for Login URL provided by MicroStrategy Identity.
- Save your settings in New Relic.
- To test your MicroStrategy Identity single sign-on setting, do the following:
- In New Relic, click Test SAML Login. A QR code is displayed.
- On your smartphone, open the MicroStrategy Badge app, then open the badge for the network that you are integrating with New Relic. Swipe up to display the QR code reader, then scan the QR code displayed on the test login page. You are logged in to the New Relic SAML Single Sign-on page.
- To enable MicroStrategy Identity single sign-on, click Enable SAML Login:
After you enable MicroStrategy Identity single sign-on, all New Relic users, including administrators, must log in to New Relic with MicroStrategy Identity. The email address associated with each user's New Relic account must match the email address associated with the user's badge.
-
In Identity Manager, click Done. New Relic users can log in to New Relic by scanning a QR code using the MicroStrategy Badge app.
