Enabling MicroStrategy Identity as the IdP for Azure SSO
Azure Active Directory extends on-premises Active Directory into the cloud, enabling users to use their primary organizational account to not only sign in to their domain-joined devices and company resources, but also all of the needed web and SaaS applications.
Azure Active Directory is pre-integrated with hundreds of SaaS applications, (including Salesforce, Google Apps, and Dropbox for Business) for federated single sign-on. Additionally, Azure Active Directory provides identity and access management, enables users to single sign-on to applications directly or discover and launch the applications from a portal, such as Office 365 or the Azure AD access panel.
You can configure MicroStrategy Identity as the IdP in Azure and leverage the pre-integration provided in Azure to log in to the applications using MicroStrategy Identity even though a pre-built Identity template is not provided for the applications.
To Configure an Application in Azure Active Directory
- Log in to the Azure Portal using your admin credentials (or MicroStrategy Identity if it is already integrated).
- Click your Active Directory.
- Click the Applications tab at the top. This page lists all the apps that are currently configured for your Active Directory.
- At the bottom, click Add.
- Click Add an application from the gallery.
- Either search for an app (top-right) or click through the various categories (on the left) to find the app you want to add.
- Click the app, enter a Display Name and submit.
- Follow the instructions to configure the application in Azure AD - Configure single sign-on, Configure user provisioning (to automatically provision user accounts - if supported and desired), and Assign users.
- Log into the application as admin and follow the instructions provided by Azure to configure it as an IdP.
There are issues with apps not showing correctly when using the new portal (https://portal.azure.com/). Use the classic portal (https://manage.windowsazure.com/) to login.
When complete, the application will redirect to Azure for login, which in turn will redirect to MicroStrategy Idneity allowing you to log in using your badge.
