Connect via API

ODBC and JDBC drivers are more frequently used for traditional relational gateways like Oracle Server; however, retrieving data through OData has also been supported since MicroStrategy 10.5.

OData is a RESTful API standard for data transfer over web services. OData delivers an option protocol to allow the creation and consumption of query-able and interoperable RESTful APIs in a standardized manner. Data from the URL option on MicroStrategy Web enables you to access, analyze, and integrate Oracle Server data via OData based RESTful API.

If the OData based RESTful API has been set up and the URL is provided by DBA, you can fetch Oracle data through MicroStrategy Web using the following steps:

  1. Log in to MicroStrategy Web.
  2. Click Create > Add External Data.
  3. Click Data from URL.
  4. Enter the URL for the RESTful API.

  5. Click Prepare Data.

  6. Click Finish.
