Transformation

Transformation is a shortcut function, available for various features in MicroStrategy Web, that allows you to easily define transformations for the final metric expression. Transformations allow you to apply an attribute-element based offset to compare metric data. For example, a transformation metric can help a user compare last month's revenue to this month's revenue. Although transformations can be applied to any attribute hierarchy, the Time hierarchy is used most often. For the Time hierarchy, the offset can be set as a fixed number of days, weeks, months, or years. Once you select the Transformation shortcut function, you can then select the group function for the calculation, such as Sum or Max. Additionally, the options to add or remove a transformation are displayed:

• To add a transformation to the metric, click the Browse icon () to select a transformation.
• To remove a transformation from a metric, click the Delete icon ().
