Strategy ONE

Link Attributes

When creating a document, you can:

  • Display data from multiple datasets in the same visualization
  • Use a visualization based on one dataset as a filter to update the data displayed in a visaulization based on another dataset
  • Group data from one dataset based on an attribute that exists in another dataset

MicroStrategy will attempt to link attributes with the same name. Linking replaces the source attribute. Even if you unmap the linked attributes later, you cannot recover information for the source attribute. You can unlink attributes and they will be treated as two separate attributes.

  1. Open the Preview dialog.
  2. Click and drag an attribute from a table to another attribute in a different table.
  3. Click the checkbox.

Linked attributes appear with a Link icon .

To link attributes, they must have compatible data types. See the compatibility matrix below to see which data types are compatible.
