Mosaic Sentinel

Mosaic Sentinel is a unified data governance intelligence platform that transforms reactive compliance into proactive, autonomous data stewardship. Mosaic Sentinel is built on Strategy's semantic layer foundation and provides enterprise data leaders with real-time visibility, intelligent risk detection, and automated governance enforcement across their entire data ecosystem, without requiring data movement or vendor lock-in.

Prerequisites

You must have the Use Mosaic Sentinel and Monitor Activity privileges to access Mosaic Sentinel.

Access

You can access Mosaic Sentinel using your environment URL or using the Library interface.

  • Library: In the Library sidebar, click Mosaic Sentinel.

  • Direct URL: Add the Mosaic Sentinel URL to the end of your environment path, https://<environment-name>/MosaicSentinel. For example, https://mci-jph8k-dev.hypernow.microstrategy.com/MosaicSentinel.

Authentication

Mosaic Sentinel authenticates using the Strategy Library authentication mechanism. Therefore, Mosaic Sentinel fully supports all authentication methods configured within your existing environment.

Mosaic Sentinel Modules

Mosaic Sentinel includes the following modules that you can use to view sensitive data and perform actions:

  • Risk Management: Real-time monitoring and alerting when an anomalous operation is performed on a sensitive attribute or metric defined in the Mosaic model.

  • Audit & Compliance: Provides a complete audit trail of all Mosaic executions and changes made to Mosaic models. Use this module to view the following:

    • Execution Tracking: All executions that involve Mosaic models are logged at the object level (for example, attributes and metrics). The following activities are recorded:

      • SQL and DAX query executions against any Strategy model that originate from supported universal semantic clients such as Tableau, Power BI, DBeaver, Strategy and more.

      • Strategy dashboard executions that involve Mosaic models.

    • Model Change Tracking: All Mosaic model modifications are tracked including changes to attributes, metrics, and configurations to the Mosaic model itself.

    • GDPR Compliance Reporting: Apply the GDPR Audiot Log filter with a selected time range to generate GDPR compliance reports and export them as CSV or Excel files.

  • Usage Insight: Provides an overview of aggregated usage insights by model, source, and semantic object. Users can select a specific date range for period-based analysis, or use the search to quickly locate relevant information. The following usage is tracked:

    • Model Usage: Displays metrics on how frequently each model is used, including the number of users and executions.

    • Source Usage: Summarizes activity across critical data sources, highlighting the number of users, executions, and data models that depend on each source.

    • Semantic Object Usage: Displays usage patterns for semantic objects, which allows you to identify critical objects based on the number of users and executions.

Known Limitations

  • Deleting attributes and metrics are not yet captured in Mosaic Sentinel. Support for capturing deleted events will be added in Strategy One (January 2026).

    Cube-level deletions are captured starting in Strategy One (December 2025).

  • Source Usage tracking does not include intelligent cube sources, only Mosaic model cube sources. Support for intelligent cube sources will be included in a future release.
