MicroStrategy ONE
Accessing attributes and metrics in Query Builder reports
In the Query Builder Editor, you can create new attributes, attribute forms, and metrics, and then map the columns in the SQL query to the new objects. These new objects are managed objects. Alternatively, you can use existing attributes (including project attributes) to map the columns in the SQL query.
You can access managed attributes and metrics in the following ways:
-
Search for Objects: If you use the Search for Objects function in MicroStrategy Developer, select the Display Managed Objects option so managed objects are displayed in the search results. To do this, select Options from the Tools menu of the Search for Objects dialog box. In the search results, you can delete, rename, or edit a managed object by right-clicking its name.
-
Report Editor: Managed objects can be accessed from the Report Editor of a Query Builder report. Right-click the object name and select an option for the object. Options include remove, edit, search for dependents, and properties.
-
Query Builder Editor: Managed objects can be viewed through the Query Builder Editor, when you are defining a Query Builder report. The Object Browser displays a Freeform Objects folder that contains all the managed objects created for all your Freeform SQL reports and Query Builder Reports, regardless of which database instance is used for a report. These objects do not have mappings outside of the Freeform SQL reports and Query Builder reports. Therefore, they cannot be used in any standard reports. Managed objects can only be used in Freeform SQL reports and Query Builder reports. Right-click the object name and you can either search for its dependents or check its properties.
When you delete a Query Builder report, all the associated managed attributes and metrics are not deleted automatically. You must use the Search for Objects feature mentioned above to manually delete unused managed objects.
For more information on managed objects, refer to the Creating Freeform SQL reports and Query Builder Reports chapter in the Advanced Reporting Help.
