Creating a shortcut-to-a-filter qualification
In a filter, a shortcut-to-a-filter qualification uses an existing filter, either as is or with additional conditions, on a report. Adding more conditions lets you reuse a base filter in different reports.
For example, a filter contains qualifications for Region = Northeast and Year = 2026. You need an additional qualification for Month of Year = December. If you add the qualification to the filter, reports that use it will only return data for December 2026 and the Northeast region. You can create a new filter with the three qualifications, or you can save yourself a step by using a shortcut to the existing filter and adding Month of Year qualification.
This type of qualification is also referred to as a filter qualification or a stand-alone filter.
You can also create a filter object prompt and use it in a report. For more information refer to Filter object prompts (shortcut to a filter).
