Document Wizard: Specify group sorting page

Once you have set up the grouping order, you can choose how to sort the grouping items. For more information, see Sorting a document.

Each grouping item selected in the previous page is listed in the table. You can modify the Criteria and Order for each. The Order determines whether the grouping item is sorted in ascending or descending order.

You cannot change the Order if the object is a custom group or if the Criteria of an attribute is set to Default.

You can change the Criteria, which is what the object is sorted by, as described below:

  • If you are sorting on an attribute, you can choose which attribute form to sort on. The form does not have to be displayed on the report.

  • If you are sorting on a custom group, you can select from the following options:

  • Default inherits the sort property of the custom group.

  • Top displays the element name first, then its individual items.

  • Bottom displays the individual items of an element, followed by the element name.

These options affect the document only if the custom group is displayed as "Show only the individual items within this element and also, expand these individual items if possible" or "Show element names, individual items within this element and also, expand these individual items if possible". For more information on these settings, see Custom Group Editor: Choose a display option dialog box.

  • If you are sorting on a consolidation, you cannot change the Criteria from Default.

After you have set the sorting, click Next to open the "Select a template for the document's layout" page.
