MicroStrategy ONE
End of Support for Workstation Local Mode in Q4 2025
As part of the MicroStrategy cloud-first strategy and the end of support for legacy on-premise installs, the Q4 2025 MicroStrategy release will be the final version that includes local mode in Workstation. Local Mode allows users the ability to create dashboards and embed datasets locally and save the files in their local file system for personal use without connecting to a server environment. No additional enhancements to local mode will be made in the meantime.
Workstation local mode is the last portion of a legacy on-premise approach and MicroStrategy is focusing on a cloud powered, AI enhanced future. Removing local mode ensure administrators, analysts, and users remain continuously connected to their environment, enabling them to leverage governed data, rely on robust data storage, and share content securing using Library. Users can also then use the benefits of AI and python capabilities that are only available on MicroStrategy Cloud.
User Impact
-
In 2025: Local mode remains available in Workstation but no enhancements will be made to dashboard, visualization, or gateway functionality within it.
-
Post-Q4 2025 Release: Users will no longer be able to create dashboards locally, without connecting to a MicroStrategy environment.
-
Recommended Actions: Users should assess their current use of local mode in their organization and evaluate the option to upload local dashboards to a server environment. Therefore, users can continue to use their dashboards. Version of Workstation release after Q4 2024 will not be able to open the existing MicroStrategy files.
