How to Edit a Metric

Once you have created a metric, you can make changes to the metric to define how it is calculated or displayed. For example, you can change the font size and formatting applied to the metric values, or filter the values to include in the metric. For an introduction to metrics, see Introduction to Metrics.

To edit a metric

  1. Click the name of the metric to open it. The Metric Editor opens in either Function Editor mode or Formula Editor mode, depending on the type of metric that you chose to edit. For detailed descriptions of the options available, see Metric Function Editor and Metric Formula Editor.
  2. You can format how the values and headers in the metric are displayed. For example, you can select the font color and the number of decimal places to use to display metric values. For steps, see Format Dialog Box for Metrics.
  3. You can define additional options for the metric, such as its dynamic aggregation function (the function used to roll up metric values when an attribute is moved from the report grid to the Report Objects) and join type (how the metric is joined to other metrics). For descriptions of the options, see Advanced Metric Options Dialog.
  4. Click Save..
