Viewing XML for a Layout Definition File

This topic provides step-by-step instructions on viewing the XML for a layout definition file.

Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web is enabled

Make sure you have completed the Enabling Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web step before proceeding further.

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.  
  2. Access the MicroStrategy Web page that uses the style for which you wish to view the layout definition XML.  
  3. Right-click the content page section and select Edit Style. The style opens in the Style Properties editor.  
  4. Click the Style Layouts tab.  

  5. Click Preview Layout.

The XML gets displayed in a separate window.

Interactivity with MicroStrategy Web is not enabled

  1. Launch the Web Customization Editor.  

  2. Click on MicroStrategy Web Configuration inside the Application Settings view to expand the hierarchical tree. The expanded list comprises the different settings that can be modified to perform customizations.  

  3. Click on Styles to expand the list of styles used in MicroStrategy Web.  

  4. Double-click the style (that uses the layout definition file for which you wish to view the XML) to display Style Properties.  

  5. Click the Style Layouts tab.  

  6. Click Preview Layout.

The XML is displayed in a separate window.
